Keyboard shortcuts

Budget without reaching for the mouse. Move through the register, select rows, recategorize, move, clear, duplicate, and delete transactions, and do quick maths in amount fields — all from the keyboard.

In this guide

  • The global shortcuts for search, adding a transaction, the sidebar, and undo.
  • Moving through the register and acting on selected rows with single keys.
  • Saving from the transaction form and the calculator shortcuts in amount fields.

Budgero is built to be used from the keyboard. The full list is always one click away: the keyboard button in the header opens Keyboard shortcuts inside the app.

Keys are shown for your computer: ⌘ ⌥ ⇧ on a Mac, Ctrl Alt Shift elsewhere. Shortcuts are ignored while you're typing in a field, so they never get in the way of your text.

Everywhere

KeysDoes
Ctrl+KSearch and commands
Ctrl+Alt+TAdd a transaction
Ctrl+BShow or hide the sidebar
Ctrl+ZUndo
Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+ZRedo

In the register

On an account page or All Transactions (desktop):

KeysDoes
Shift+NAdd a transaction (in the dialog or the inline row, whichever you use)
↑ / ↓Move the highlighted row
SpaceSelect or deselect the highlighted row
Shift+↑ / ↓Extend the selection
Ctrl+ASelect every row
EscClear the selection
Shift+CShow only uncleared transactions (account page)
Shift+UShow only uncategorized transactions (account page)

With rows selected

KeysDoes
GChange the category
MMove to another account
PSet the payee
CMark cleared, or uncleared if they all already are
Shift+DDuplicate
DeleteDelete — the confirmation has an Undo button

G, M, and P open a picker with the search already focused: type a few letters, press Enter, and the change applies to every selected row. Esc closes the picker without changing anything. Reconciled rows are skipped by C.

Adding a transaction

KeysDoes
Tab / Shift+TabMove between fields
EnterSave (from a text field)
Ctrl+EnterSave from any field
EscClose without saving (inline row)

In the inline row, Enter on a button presses that button — Split, Cancel, or a picker — instead of saving.

Amount fields

Amount fields are calculators: type 120 + 35 or 300 / 3 and the result is saved. These work while editing an amount:

KeysDoes
Ctrl+HHalve the amount
Ctrl+DDouble the amount
Ctrl+TTake 10%
Ctrl+ZSet to zero
EnterSave the amount
EscCancel the edit

To find transactions rather than move between them, see Searching transactions.
